My Review

“Predator: Badlands” is a science fiction story about an alien exiled from his own people who crash lands on a planet and allies himself with an android to survive. Director Dan Trachtenberg (“10 Cloverfield Lane” 2016) skillfully crafted this seventh movie in the “Predator” franchise with loads of action sequences and good production values, including the outstanding screenplay by Patrick Aison, with whom he developed the story.

The cast is headed by Elle Fanning as the android and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi as Dek, the outcast of one of the predator species. Elle Fanning has developed into a skilled actor since first starting in films as a child actor in “I Am Sam” in 2001. In this role, she plays a defective android who partners with an alien to survive. In addition to the heavy scifi drama, she also provides comic relief. Dimitrius also does a good acting job, even as he is clothed in a creature suit and has a digitally-enhanced face as Dek.

Co-stars include Reuben de Jong, Mike Homik, Cameron Brown, Rohinal Narayan, Matt Duffer, Ross Duffer, and Allison Wright as the voice of Mother. The exciting and watchable “Predator: Badlands” was a success at the Thanksgiving 2025 box office for producer Dan Trachtenberg, Lawrence Gordon Productions, Davis Entertainment, Toberoff Entertainment, 20th Century Studios, and The Walt Disney Company.

“Predator: Badlands” is a standalone motion picture in the “Predator” universe. It is number seven in the series which includes the original “Predator” (1987), and sequels “Predator 2” (1990), “Predators” (2010), “The Predator” (2018), “Prey” (2022), and “Killer of Killers” (2025). Two crossover films include “Alien vs. Predator” (2004) and “Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem” (2007).
