My Review

The romantic comedy-drama play by Bill Shakespeare gets a redux from director Kenneth Branagh in “As You Like It.” His fifth Shakespeare adaptation is not up to his usual standards, and with this version set in Japan, gave the story a slightly different flavor. It does, however, retain the Bard’s original story of a young woman pursuing the man she loves in an unconventional manner.

The cast includes Bryce Dallas Howard, Kevin Kline, Alfred Molina, David Oyelowo, Brian Blessed, Adrian Lester, Janet McTeer, Richard Briers, Romola Garai, Paul Chan, Patrick Doyle, Gerard Horan, and Kenneth Branagh as the narrator. The watchable “As You Like It” premiered in America on HBO by producer Branagh, HBO Films, BBC Films, Picturehouse, The Shakespeare Film Company, and Lionsgate Films.
