The Core (2003)

My Review

“The Core” is a science fiction disaster movie about scientists traveling to the earth’s core hoping to restart the planet’s rotation, which they plan to do by setting off nuclear weapons. This unlikely scenario in real life makes an acceptable premise for a low-expectations modern-day “B” movie, which means the project was well directed by Jon Amiel (“Copycat” 1995) from an acceptable screenplay by Cooper Layne and John Rogers.

The stars of the show include Aaron Eckhart, Hilary Swank, Stanley Tucci, Richard Jenkins, Alfre Woodward, Bruce Greenwood, Delroy Lindo, D. J. Qualls, Tcheky Karyo, and Fred Ewanuick. The watchable “The Core” was a flop at the box office for David Foster Productions, MFP Munich Film Partners, and Paramount Pictures.
