My Review

Joanne Woodward stars as a woman with multiple personality disorder in the drama film “The Three Faces of Eve.” Director-screenwriter Nunnally Johnson (“The Keys of the Kingdom” 1944) created a lean and taut film which explains a difficult psychological problem in simple layman’s language. It was based on the 1957 book of the same name by Corbett Thigpen and Hervey Cleckley.

Joanne Woodward was outstanding in “fleshing out” details about someone who really is not well understood in society. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Co-stars include Lee J. Cobb as her doctor, David Wayne, Nancy Kulp, Ken Scott, and Alistair Cooke as the film’s narrator. The watchable “The Three Faces of Eve” was successful at the box office for producer Nunnally Johnson and 20th Century Fox.
