My Review

“Jetsons: The Movie” tells the story of George Jetson being promoted to a new job as manager of a mining colony on a distant asteroid. The comedy proceeds from there well directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, who were the directors and producers of the original “Jetsons” television show which aired on ABC in primetime from 1962-1963. The screenplay was written by Dennis Marks.

The voice cast includes George O’Hanlon as George Jetson, Mel Blanc as Cosmo, Penny Singleton as Jane Jetson, Tiffany as Judy, Patric Zimmerman as Elroy, as well as Ronnie Schell, Patti Deutsch, Dana Hill, Rick Dees, Don Messick, Brad Garratt, and Jean Vander Pyl as Rosie the Robot. “Jetsons: The Movie” was a modest hit at the box office for Hanna-Barbera Productions and Universal Pictures.

This was the final film role for Mel Blanc in a motion picture career that went back to 1937. This was also the last movie performance for George O’Hanlon, and the final production of any kind for William Hannah and Joseph Barbera.
