My Review

Eddie Murphy plays a womanizing advertising executive who gets a taste of his own medicine when a new female “cougar” boss takes over his department in “Boomerang.” Director Reginald Hudlin (“House Party” 1990) put together a predictable romantic comedy which nonetheless has funny moments. The acceptable screenplay was written by Barry W. Blaustein and David Sheffield, from a story developed by Murphy.

The cast includes Eddie Murphy, Halle Berry (in one of her first big movies), Robin Givens, David Alan Grier, Martin Lawrence, Eartha Kitt, Chris Rock, John Witherspoon, Geoffrey Holder, Grace Jones, Tisha Campbell, Lela Rochon, Bebe Drake, and Leonard Jackson as Lloyd the chemist. The watchable “Boomerang” was a success at the box office for producer Brian Grazer, Imagine Entertainment, Eddie Murphy Productions, and Paramount Pictures. It was filmed on location in New York City, and received an R rating for graphic depictions of sexual activity and bad language.
