“Song Song Blue” is a true story about a Milwaukee couple who head up a Neil Diamond tribute band. Director-screenwriter Craig Brewer (“Coming to America” 2021) put together an entertaining biopic with good production values, acceptable musical performances by leads Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, and a better-than-average musical score by Scott Bomar.
The supporting cast includes Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, Mustafa Shakir, Fisher Stevens, Jim Belushi, Beth Malone, Jayson Warner Smith, and Erika Slezak, daughter of old-time movie star Walter Slezak. The watchable “Song Song Blue” was modestly successful at the box office for Davis Entertainment and Universal Pictures. It was filmed in New Jersey.
