My Review

“Old Henry” is a western drama about a widowed homesteader and his son taking in a wounded stranger bearing a suitcase full of cash. He claims he is being pursued by outlaws, but when a sheriff and his group arrive chasing the man, the homesteader doesn’t know who to believe. Director-screenwriter Potsy Ponciroli, in his feature film debut, put together quite an engrossing gritty horse opera with some unexpected twists and turns.

The cast includes Tim Blake Nelson as the homesteader, Gavin Lewis as his son, Scott Haze as the mysterious stranger, Stephen Dorff as the sheriff, with Trace Adkins, Richard Speight Jr., Max Arciniega, and Brad Carter as Branigan. The watchable “Old Henry” was released primarily on video on demand with limited theatrical run, from Hideout Studios and Shout! Pictures. The story is set in 1906 in the Oklahoma Territory, and filmed on location in Tennessee. The outstanding cinematography was handled by John Matysiak.
