“Here” is a drama film depicting multiple generations of families occupying the same house over the course of a century or more. Director Robert Zemeckis (“Romancing the Stone” 1984) presents the film in a nonlinear narrative, from a script he co-wrote with Eric Roth, adapted from the 2014 novel by Richard McGuire. Considering that the story is told in a disrupted storyline, the film is easy to follow and is able to hold viewer’s attention for the 104 minute running time.
Tom Hanks and Robin Wright are the stars of the show, delivering their usual winsome performances. Zemeckis used a new artificial intelligence technology called Metaphysic Live to “de-age” the actors, especially Hanks and Wright, who dominate the storyline. Co-stars include Paul Bettany, Kelly Reilly, Michelle Dockery, David Flynn, Daniel Betts, Jonathan Aris, Lilly Aspelli, Tony Way, and Stuart Bowman. “Here” was a huge flop at the box office for producer Robert Zemeckis, Miramax, ImageMovers, TriStar Pictures, and Sony Pictures Releasing.
