Riddick (2013)

My Review

Vin Diesel once again hits the big screen as “Riddick,” who finds himself stranded on a planet loaded with all kinds of dangerous animals and weird creatures. Riddick gets into even more trouble when the rescue beacon he activates draws two rival mercenary teams hunting him. Director-screenwriter David Twohy (“Timescape” 1992) fills the picture with loads of action sequences, returning to the gritty survival mode of “Pitch Black” (2000), the first film, after the epic soap opera feel of “The Chronicles of Riddick” (2004), the second feature.

The supporting cast includes Katee Sackhoff, Karl Urban, Dave Bautista, Matt Noble, Jordi Molla, Bokeem Woodbine, Conrad Pla, Noah Danby, Nolan Gerard Funk as Luna. The very watchable “Riddick” was successful at the box office for producer Vin Diesel, One Race Films, Radar Pictures, Riddick Canada Productions, and Universal Pictures. It was filmed in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. A fourth “Riddick” is reportedly in the works.
