The Drama (2026)

My Review

“The Drama” is a romantic comedy about a happily engaged couple who get some bad news when an unexpected revelation derails their wedding plans. Director-screenwriter Kristoffer Borgli (“Dream Scenario” 2023) seems to walk a tightrope between heavy psychological drama and dark comedy, which is almost too much to allow many viewers to enjoy the film. This is unfocused directing and writing by Borgli. Perhaps patrons of art house cinema will enjoy this type of film.

The cast includes Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Alana Haim, Hailey Gates, Zoe Winters, Hannah Gross, Sydney Lemmon, Anna Baryshnikov, and Mamoudou Athie as the best man. The unwatchable “The Drama” is an independent production for Square Peg and A24 Films. It was primarily filmed in Boston, with some shots in New Orleans, Los Angeles, and London.
