My Review

“Toy Story 3” follows Woody, Buzz, and the gang facing an uncertain future as owner Andy leaves for college. They are accidentally donated to a daycare center, and soon discover that it is actually a prison. The drama proceeds from there, well directed by Lee Unkrich, in his first full time job in the director’s chair (he had previously served as co-director). The excellent screenplay was penned by Michael Arndt.

The voice cast includes Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Joan Cusack as Jessie, Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head, Estelle Harris as Mrs. Potato Head, Wallace Shawn as Rex, John Ratzenberger as Hamm, Ned Beatty as teddy bear, Michael Keaton as Ken, Jodie Benson as Barbie, John Morris as Andy, Laurie Metcalf as his mum, Jeff Pidgeon as the Aliens, R. Lee Ermey as Sarg, Whoopie Goldberg as Stretch, and Richard Kind as the Bookworm.

The watchable “Toy Story 3” was the highest grossing film of 2010 for Pixar Animation Studios, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, and The Walt Disney Company. It was nominated for five Academy Awards, winning two for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“We Belong Together,” written and performed by Randy Newman). The non-winners were Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Sound Editing. It was created at Pixar Animation in Emeryville and Disney Animation in Burbank, California. It was followed by “Toy Story 4” (2019).
