My Review

“Orange County” is a comedy film about a Southern California high school senior whose hopes for college are dashed when his guidance counselor sends the wrong transcripts and he is rejected. He enlists the help of his less-than-brainy girl friend and his stoner brother to help, with the comedy and drama proceeding from there. Director Jake Kasdan (“Red One” 2024) and screenwriter Mike White turn out a predictable comedy with few big laughs but featuring some comedic elements which make the 82 minute feature entertaining nonetheless.

The talented cast includes Colin Hanks, Jack Black, Catherine O’Hara, John Lithgow, Lily Tomlin, Schuyler Fisk, Harold Ramis, Jane Adams, Garry Marshall, Dana Ivey, Carly Pope, Chevy Chase, Leslie Mann, Kevin Kline, and Ben Stiller. The watchable “Orange County” was a hit at the box office for MTV Films, Scott Rudin Productions, and Paramount Pictures. The film was primarily shot in Los Angeles County.
