Hope Springs (2012)

My Review

Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones play a couple whose thirty year marriage has gone stale, with Streep somehow persuading her hubby to attend a retreat under the guidance of a marriage counselor in “Hope Springs.” Director David Frankel (“The Devil Wears Prada” 2006) put together a thoughtful comedy-drama looking at a mature relationship, from a thorough screenplay by Vanessa Taylor.

Jones and Streep certainly dominated the film with their talented performances, along with Steve Carell as Dr. Feld. Co-stars include Jean Smart, Elizabeth Shue, Mimi Rogers, Ben Rappaport, Brett Rice, Marin Ireland, Becky Ann Baker, Daniel Flaherty, Damian Young, Ann Harada, and Susan Misner. The watchable “Hope Springs” was a hit at the box office for Columbia Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Mandate Pictures, Escape Artists Productions, and Sony Pictures Releasing. It was filmed in Connecticut.
