Miracle (2004)

My Review

Kurt Russell plays a brash college coach who is hired to manage the 1980 U. S. Olympic hockey team in the sports drama “Miracle.” He clashes with the temperamental college players on the team until they all realize they must unite to defeat their biggest foe – the super-talented Soviet team. Director Gavin O’Connor (“The Accountant” 2016) and screenwriter Eric Guggenheim put together an excellent sports drama which hold everyone’s attention for the entire 136 minute running time.

The cast includes Kurt Russell, Patricia Clarkson, Noah Emmerich, Sean McCann, Kenneth Welsh, Eddie Cahill, Nathan West, Kenneth Mitchell, and sportscaster Al Michaels as himself in archival voice-over footage. The watchable “Miracle” was a modest hit at the box office for Walt Disney Pictures, Mayhem Pictures, Buena Vista Pictures Distribution, and The Walt Disney Company. It was filmed in British Columbia, Canada.
