August: Osage County (2013)

My Review

Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts headline an all-star cast as mother and daughter in the comedy-drama “August: Osage County.” Director John Wells put together an engrossing family melodrama from a sterling screenplay by Tracy Letts, adapted from his own 2007 stage play of the same name. Both Meryl and Julia were nominated for Academy Awards for their roles.

Co-stars include Ewan McGregor, Abigail Breslin, Chris Cooper, Benedict Cumberbatch, Juliet Lewis, Margo Martindale, Dermot Mulroney, Sam Shepard, Julieann Nicholson, and Misty Upham as the housekeeper. The very watchable “August: Osage County” was a hit at the box office for producer George Clooney, Smoke House Pictures, Battle Mountain Films, Yucaipa Films, and The Weinstein Company. It was filmed in Oklahoma.
