My Review

“Assault on Precinct 13” is a riveting crime drama about a handful of police officers and a few civilians defending a police station against an attack by a large and unrelenting gang. Director-screenwriter John Carpenter (“Escape from New York” 1981) put together a film with excellent pacing and action sequences filled with suspense. Carpenter also wrote the innovative musical score and edited the picture under the name of John T. Chance.

The largely unknown cast includes Austin Stoker, Darwin Jostin, Laurie Zimmer, Martin West, Tony Burton, Nancy Loomis, Frank Doubleday, and James Jeeter as the police captain. The watchable “Assault on Precinct 13” was a modest success at the box office producer John Carpenter, The CKK Corporation, and Turtle Releasing Organization. This indie movie was filmed in Los Angeles, California.
