My Review

“Made in Italy” is a comedy-drama film about a man who rebuilds his late wife’s dilapidated villa in Northern Italy after her untimely death, with the help of his estranged son. The sparks fly from there in this English-Italian movie. Director-screenwriter James D’Arcy did an outstanding job in his first directorial assignment, not only on the highly-refined screenplay, but also emphasizing good production values, quality performances, and focused direction.

Liam Neeson turned in his usual exceptional performance, this time with real-life son Michael Richardson, from his marriage to Natasha Richardson. Co-stars include Valeria Bilello, Lindsay Duncan, Yolanda Kettle, Julian Ovenden, and Flaminia Cinque as the deli owner. The watchable “Made in Italy” was not a big success at the box office as it was out in theaters only in limited release. It was filmed in Tuscany, Italy, from HanWay Films, Ingenious Media, CrossDay Productions, Indiana Production, and Lionsgate UK Limited.
