Chaos Walking (2021)

My Review

“Chaos Walking” is a futuristic science fiction film about life on a distant planet where all human women have died in a war with the native inhabitants. The remaining males are afflicted by the “Noise,” which projects their thoughts in the air for all to see and hear. When a human woman crash-lands on the planet, a teenager must protect her from the deranged mayor and his goons. Doug Liman (“Mr. and Mrs. Smith” 2005) basically gave us chaotic directing in bring this lame story to the big screen. The asinine storyline was developed by screenwriter Patrick Ness, who adapted it from his own 2008 novel “The Knife of Never Letting Go.”

The cast includes Tom Holland as Todd the teenager, Daisy Ridley as the visitor, Mads Mikkelsen as the mayor, David Oyelowo, Nick Jonas, Cynthia Erivo, Kurt Sutter, Bethany Anne Lind, Demian Bichir, and Ray McKinnon. The insufferable dud “Chaos Walking” was a box office bomb for 3 Arts Entertainment, Hercules Film Fund, Bron Creative Studios, and Lionsgate Films. It was filmed in Quebec, Canada.
