“The Sheep Detective” is a murder-mystery family comedy about a flock of English sheep who realize their murdered shepherd was poisoned by an unidentified local person. They gather clues which help the town’s bumbling policeman solve the crime. Director Kyle Balda (“Minions: The Rise of Gru” 2022) put together a delightful film with fun comedy, great production values, and good writing by screenwriter Craig Mazin. It was adapted from the 2005 novel “Three Bags Full” by Leonie Swann.
The human cast includes Hugh Jackman, Emma Thompson, Molly Gordon, Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galilzine, Tosin Cole, Hong Chau, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Conleth Hill, and Mandeep Dhillon as the mail carrier. The voice cast includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, and Laraine Newman. The very watchable “The Sheep Detective” is popular in theaters for Working Title Films, Three Strange Angels, Lord Miller Productions, and Amazon MGM Studios. It was filmed on location in jolly old England.
