My Review

“The Devil Wears Prada” is a comedy-drama film about a young journalist who takes a job with a ruthless editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine. Her adjustment to the job takes its toll on her personal relationships and on her core moral values. Director David Frankel (“Marley & Me” 2008) put together a very entertaining film with good production values, memorable performances, and great writing. The outstanding screenplay was written by Aline Brosh McKenna, adapted from the 2003 novel of the same name by Laura Weisberger.

The cast was superb including Meryl Streep as the devil who wears Prada, Anne Hathaway as the young apprentice, Emily Blunt as Meryl’s senior assistant, Stanley Tucci as a magazine director, Simon Baker as a reporter, Adrian Grenier as Anne’s boyfriend, David Marshall Grant as Anne’s father, James Naughton as Meryl’s hubby, Gisele Bundchen as staff, and Heidi Klum as herself. The very watchable “The Devil Wears Prada” was a massive hit at the box office for Wendy Finerman Productions, Fox 2000 Pictures, and 20th Century Fox.

It was filmed in New York City, New York, and Paris, France, and was nominated for two Academy Awards – Best Actress (Streep) and Best Costume Design. A sequel called “The Devil Wears Prada 2” was released in 2026 with the same core cast members including Streep, Hathaway, Blunt, and Tucci.
