Virus (1980)

My Review

“Virus” is a film telling the science fiction story of a man-made virus which wipes out most of humanity. The remaining survivors are stationed in Antarctica, where the virus goes dormant, and where they must find a cure. Japanese director Kinji Fukasuku put together a believable film which had good writing and decent performances. For some reason, it did not receive general release and therefore did not make any money at the box office.

The cast includes Masao Kusakari, Tsunehiko Watase, Sonny Chiba, Kensaku Morita, Toshiyuki Nagashima, Glenn Ford, George Kennedy, Robert Vaughn, Chuck Connors, Olivia Hussey, Bo Svenson, Henry Silva, and Edward James Olmos. The watchable “Virus” has both a Japanese language and an English language version, from producers Hiruki Kadokawa Office and Toho Company. It was filmed in Japan, Canada, Peru, and Antarctica.
