The Unbreakable Boy (2025)

My Review

“The Unbreakable Boy” is the faith-based story of a couple raising a son diagnosed with both autism and a severe brittle-bone disease. The boy amazingly maintains a constant joyful attitude and positive world view. Director-screenwriter Jon Gunn (“I Still Believe” 2020) put together a story which clearly shows the struggles of families with special-needs children without glossing over or minimizing unpleasant issues. It is based on the 2014 book of the same name by Scott Michael LeRette and Susy Flory.

The cast includes Zachary Levi and Meghann Fahy as the parents Scott & Teresa, Jacob Laval as Austin LaRette, Patricia Heaton and Todd Terry as the grandparents, Peter Facinelli as Preacher Rick, Drew Powell as Scott’s imaginary friend, Gavin Warren as the younger brother, and Amy Acker as Lori. The watchable “The Unbreakable Boy” was a modest success at the box office for producers Andrew Erwin and Jon Erwin, Kingdom Story Company, Unbreakable Boy LLC, and Lionsgate Films. It was filmed in Oklahoma.
