Not Without Hope (2025)

My Review

“Not Without Hope” is a disaster film about four men fishing in a small boat 70 miles of off Clearwater, Florida, when they were hit by a huge storm which capsized their boat. Their struggle for survival makes for a riveting film, well assembled by director Joe Carnahan (“The A-Team” 2010) from a screenplay he co-wrote with E. Nicholas Mariani. It is based on the true story recounted in the 2010 book “Not Without Hope” by Nick Schuyler and Jere Longman.

The cast includes Zachary Levi, Quentin Plair, Terrence Terrell, and Marshall Cook as the four boatmen, Josh Duhamel as the head of rescue, JoBeth Williams as Zach’s mum, and Floriana Lima as Zach’s wife. The very watchable “Not Without Hope” was a box office bomb for Volition Media, K. Jam Media, Latigo Films, and Inaugural Entertainment. It was filmed entirely in Malta.
