My Review

Joan Crawford is the “Dancing Lady,” co-starring in this classic MGM musical with Clark Gable. The show business story tells the tale of a young dancer bailed out of jail by a millionaire playboy (Franchot Tone), and he lands her a job with Gable’s Broadway show. Complications arise when Tone tries to meddle behind the scenes. Director Robert Z. Leonard and screenwriters Allen Rivkin and P. J. Wolfson do a great job with high production values and the whole shebang.

The cast includes Clark Gable, Joan Crawford, Franchot Tone, Fred Astaire, May Robson, Robert Benchley, Grant Mitchell, Nelson Eddy, Ted Healy, Sterling Holloway, Eve Arden, and Moe Howard, Curly Howard, and Larry Fine as the Three Stooges. “Dancing Lady” was the eighth highest grossing film of 1933 for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
