John Wayne discovers gold and makes a lot of money as he becomes “The Lucky Texan.” However, The Duke and partner George “Gabby” Hayes soon run into trouble as the local assayers try to cheat them out of their claim.
This is a typical B-Western movie turned out by Lone Star Pictures and Monogram Pictures. Wayne starred in a slew of these movie shorts in the 1930’s, this one directed and written by Robert N. Bradbury and produced by Paul Malvern. Co-stars include Barbara Sheldon, Yakima Canutt, Gordon De Main, Lloyd Whitlock, Eddie Parker, and Earl Dwire as Sheriff Miller. It was filmed at the Iverson Ranch in Chatsworth and at the Monogram Ranch in Newhall.
