Blue Steel (1934)

My Review

John Wayne plays a U. S. Marshall working undercover to capture the Polka Dot Bandit who has committed a string of robberies in “Blue Steel.” The supporting cast includes Eleanor Hunt as a victim of the Bandit, George “Gabby” Hayes as the sheriff, Yakima Canutt as the Polka Dot Bandit, Earl Dwire as his henchman, Edward Peil as a wealthy local, Lafe McKee as Eleanor’s father, George Cleveland as the innkeeper, and Hank Bell as the stage coach driver.

Producer Paul Malvern and director-screenwriter Robert N. Bradbury put together the watchable “Blue Steel” for Monogram Pictures and Genius Entertainment. Cinematographer Archie Stout did a fantastic job of filming “Blue Steel” on location around Southern California – Walker Ranch in Santa Clarita, Big Pines, Lone Pine, Alabama Hills, and the mountains around Kernville.
