My Review

“Bringing Up Baby” is a screwball comedy about a straitlaced paleontologist who gets dragged into misadventures with a madcap heiress and her pet leopard. Howard Hawks (“Scarface” 1932) was unfocused in the director’s chair on this overrated comedy, which was poorly written by Dudley Nichols and Hagar Wilde.

The cast delivered terrible performances all around including Katherine Hepburn as the rich gal with a wild pet, Cary Grant as Dr. Huxley, Barry Fitzgerald, May Robson, Fritz Feld, Leona Roberts, Dick Lane, Ward Bond, and Jack Carson. The awful and unwatchable “Bringing Up Baby” was a flop at the box office for producer Howard Hawks and RKO Radio Pictures. It was filmed at various locations around Southern California.
