My Review

The story of Lightning McQueen continues in “Cars 3.” He is now a veteran race car and racing legend, and must prove he is still competitive in the new world of technologically advanced racers. Brian Fee makes a notable directorial debut here, aided in his experience as an animator, storyboard artist, and prop designer. The screenplay was written by Kiel Murray (co-writer of the original), Bob Peterson, and Mike Rich.

The cast includes Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen, Cristela Alonzo, Chris Cooper, Nathan Fillion, Larry the Cable Guy, Armie Hammer, Tony Shalhoub, Bonnie Hunt, Kerry Washington, Bob Costas, Margo Martindale, Isiah Whitlock Jr., John Ratzenberger, Lewis Hamilton, Cheech Marin, Katherine Helmond, Paul Dooley, Jennifer Lewis, and the late Paul Newman as Doc Hudson from unused archival recordings from the first film.

The very entertaining and watchable “Cars 3” was a big hit at the box office for Pixar Animation Studios, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, and The Walt Disney Company. The three films are “Cars” (2006), “Cars 2” (2011), and “Cars 3” (2017). No plans have been announced for a fourth in the series.
