My Review

“The Snowman” is a crime drama following two Oslo, Norway, police detectives as they investigate a gruesome string of murders. The elusive serial killer taunts the police by leaving snowmen at each crime scene. Sloppy direction by Tomas Alfredson (“Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy” 2011) and a poorly written screenplay by Peter Straughan, Hossein Amini, and Soren Sveistrup have made an uninteresting and hard-to-watch motion picture with mediocre performances.

The cast includes Michael Fassbender and Rebecca Ferguson as the two cops, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Val Kilmer, J. K. Simmons, Toby Jones, and James D’Arcy. The unwatchable “The Snowman” underperformed at the box office for Working Title Films, Perfect World Pictures, and Universal Pictures. It was filmed in Norway in the English language.
