My Review

More blended family troubles occur when the two wildly different grandfathers arrive for Christmas in “Daddy’s Home 2.” Director Sean Anders (“Daddy’s Home” 2015) keeps the storyline on an even keel generating laughs similar to the way he did in the original film from the screenplay he co-wrote with Brian Burns and John Morris.

Mel Gibson and John Lithgow play the two grandfathers, bringing their decades of acting experience to this project. Co-stars include Will Ferrell and Linda Cardellini as the Whitakers, Mark Wahlberg as her ex-husband, Scarlett Estevez and Owen Vaccaro as the children, with John Cena, Alessandra Ambrosio, Bill Burr, Liam Neeson, Daniel DiMaggio, and Sully Sullenberger as shirttail relatives.

“Daddy’s Home 2” was filmed in Massachusetts, and popular at the box office for producer Will Ferrell and Paramount Pictures. Mel Gibson won the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Supporting Actor, with a nomination for Wahlberg for Worst Actor.
