American Assassin (2017)

My Review

“American Assassin” is the story of a man who is consumed by vengeance after his fiancee is killed in a terrorist attack, which interferes with his new job at the CIA, much to the concern of his managers. Weak direction by Michael Cuesta and the unexceptional screenplay by four writers doom this film to mediocrity. It was based on the 2010 novel of the same name by Vince Flynn.

The cast includes Dylan O’Brien, Michael Keaton, Sanaa Lathan, Taylor Kitsch, and David Suchet as the CIA director. The unwatchable “American Assassin” was a flop at the box office for CBS Films, di Bonaventura Pictures, and Lionsgate Films. It was filmed in England, Italy, Malta, and Thailand.
