Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017)

My Review

In “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” the venerable spy agency is effectively destroyed by drug cartel kingpin Poppy Adams, who has also poisoned the world’s drug supply with a deadly toxin. Director Matthew Vaughn (“Stardust” 2007) put together an excellent adventure film featuring loades of action and memorable roles, aided by Jane Goldman, with whom he co-wrote the screenplay.

The talented cast is dominated by Julianne Moore as Poppy Adams, whose wacky performance as the drug kingpin stole the show. Her offering as the perky, goody-goody woman involved in nefarious schemes is truly hilarious. Co-stars include Colin Firth, Taron Edgerton, Mark Strong, Halle Berry, Elton John, Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Pedro Pascal, Michael Gambon, Emily Watson, Samantha Womack, Hannah Alstrom, and Bruce Greenwood as President of the United States.

The watchable “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” was a very big hit at the box office for Cloudy Productions, Marv Films, and 20th Century Fox. It was filmed in England, Germany, and Italy. The franchise includes “Kingsman: The Secret Service” (2014), “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” (2017), “The King’s Man” (2021), and “Argylle” (2024).
