A Simple Favor (2018)

My Review

“A Simple Favor” is a mystery film about a woman named Stephanie befriending a woman named Emily, whose son attends her son’s school. Emily asks Stephanie for a simple favor – to pick her son up from school – and Emily vanishes without a trace. The drama and mystery proceed from there, well directed by Paul Feig (“Spy” 2015) from an outstanding screenplay by Jessica Sharzer, adapted from the 2017 novel by Darcey Bell. Feig gave the movie an Alfred Hitchcock style of mystery and suspense to it.

The cast is headed by Anna Kendrick as Stephanie and Blake Lively as Emily, who deliver riveting performances. Co-stars include Henry Golding, Linda Cardellini, Jean Smart, Rupert Friend, Andrew Rannells, and Eric Johnson. The watchable “A Simple Favor” was a hit at the box office for Feigco Entertainment, Bron Studios, and Lionsgate Films. It was filmed in Toronto, Canada.
