My Review

Sandra Bullock plays Debbie Ocean, sister of Danny Ocean, who gathers an all-female crew for a heist in “Ocean’s 8.” Their goal is to steal a $150 million necklace from a famous actress during a star-studded gala in New York City. New York City! Director Gary Ross (“The Hunger Games” 2012) smoothy directed this formulaic yet engrossing and entertaining film with good production values, acceptable performances, and a lucid script he co-wrote with Olivia Milch.

The stellar cast consists of Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Dakota Fanning, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Richard Armitage, Rihanna, James Corden, Griffin Dunne, Michael Gandolfini, Marlo Thomas, Elliot Gould, Elizabeth Ashley, Dana Ivey, Katie Holmes, Common, Kim Kardashian, and Heidi Klum.

The very watchable “Ocean’s 8” was a huge hit at the box office for producer Steven Soderberg, Village Roadshow Pictures, Smokehouse Pictures, and Warner Bros. Pictures. It was shot entirely on location in New York City.
