My Review

Madea and her family travel to the backwoods of Georgia for a family reunion, but things take a turn for the worse when a family member passes away. Director-screenwriter Tyler Perry did his usual good job in putting together this wacky comedy, which is the eleventh installment of the Madea Cinematic Universe. Perry fills in four roles for this picture – Mabel “Madea” Simmons, Joe Simmons (her brother), Brian Simmons (son of Joe), and Heathrow Simmons (paraplegic brother of Joe & Madea).

The cast includes Tyler Perry, Cassie Davis, Patrice Lovely, Jen Harper, Ciera Peyton, KJ Smith, and Mike Tyson. “A Madea Family Funeral” was a big hit in theartrical release for Tyler Perry Studios and Lionsgate Films. It was filmed at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. The sequel will be “A Madea Homecoming” (2022).

“A Madea Family Funeral” was nominated for eight Golden Raspberry Awards – Worst Picture, Worst Actress (Perry), Worst Supporting Actor (Perry, nominated twice), Worst Supporting Actress (Davis), Worst Screen Combo (Tyler Perry & Tyler Perry), Worst Screenplay, and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rif-off or Sequel).
