Downton Abbey (2019)

My Review

“Downton Abbey” follows the Crawley family and their servants as they prepare for a visit from King George V and Queen Mary. Director Michael Enger and screenwriter-producer Julian Fellowes do an excellent job of recreating the world of Downton Abbey and The Crawley’s from six years on television. The story is set in 1927, one year after the series ended.

Most of the massive cast returned, like a big family reunion, including Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Maggie Smith, Penelope Wilton, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Phyllis Logan, Imelda Staunton, Michelle Dockery, Raquel Cassidy, and Simon Jones as King George V and Geraldine James as Queen Mary. “Downton Abbey” was a big success in theatrical release for Carnival Films, Focus Features, and Universal Pictures.

It was filmed in England and in the South of France. Two sequels have been produced – “Downton Abbey: A New Era” (2022) and “Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale” (2025).
