The Kitchen (2019)

My Review

“The Kitchen” is a crime drama film telling the story of three women who must take over the criminal operations of their Irish mob husbands who have been sentenced to prison. Director-screenwriter Andrea Burloff put together a mediocre movie with poor character development, uneven plot, sluggish storyline, and bad acting. This was Burloff’s debut as a big screen director.

The three lead actors do not do much to help this film. Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, and Elisabeth Moss seem low on energy and out of focus. Co-stars include Brian d’Arcy James, Domhnall Gleeson, James Badge Dale, Margo Martindale, Common, Bill Camp, and Annabella Sciorra. “The Kitchen” was a box office bomb for New Line Cinema, Bron Creative, and Warner Bros. Pictures. Stay out of “The Kitchen” and avoid what’s cooking in this dud with a 102 minute running time, filmed in New York City.
