“The Reliant” is the story of a teenage girl who must care for her younger siblings when an economic collapse causes social unrest and widespread anarchy. Her faith is challenged when she wonders how a good God would let this happen. Director Paul Munger (“Unbridled” 2017) and screenwriter J. P. Johnston put together a mediocre faith-based film with sloppy direction and a disorganized plot, leaving viewers with that less-than-satisfied feeling.
The cast includes Kevin Sorbo, Julia Denton, Molley Gray, Brian Bosworth, and Eric Roberts as Mr. Jones. “The Reliant” underperformed at the box office for Fervent House Media and Studio City Pictures. It was filmed in Ohio.
