“Meet John Doe” is a classic Frank Capra yarn about a newspaper reporter who accidentally sparks a major grassroots political movement when she publishes a fake letter to the editor. Director Capra and screenwriters Richard Connell and Robert Presnell put together an excellent drama with good writing and classic performances by popular movie stars.

The cast is headed by Barbara Stanwyck as the newspaper reporter, Gary Cooper as the man she hires to play the author of the letter named John Doe, Edward Arnold, Walter Brennan, Spring Byington, Gene Lockhart, James Gleason, Regis Toomey, Ann Doran, and Harry Davenport. “Meet John Doe” was popular with the public and made money for Frank Capra Productions and Warner Bros. Pictures.
