Body of Lies (2008)

My Review

“Body of Lies” is an action-adventure spy thriller where Leonardo DiCaprio plays a CIA operative hunting a terrorist across Europe. Director Ridley Scott (“Alien” 1979) put together a “thriller” with a conventional plot, predicable storyline, and a big emphasis on bombings and other action scenes to keep viewers distracted from the film’s mediocrity. Screenwriter William Monahan adapted the story from the 2007 novel of the same name by David Ignatius.

The cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Oscar Isaac, Mark Strong, Simon McBurney, Annabelle Wallis, Michael Stuhlbarg, Ali Suliman, and Vince Colosimo as Skip. “Body of Lies” was a disappointment at the box office for producer Ridley Scott, Scott Free Productions, De Line Pictures, and Warner Bros. Pictures.
