Esther Williams, Red Skelton, and Basic Rathbone star in the enormously entertaining musical comedy film “Bathing Beauty.” This extravaganza was Williams’ first Technicolor picture, featuring her classic water ballet scenes, numerous musical numbers, and zany comedy, expertly directed by George Sidney and written by Joseph Schrank.
Co-stars include Bill Goodwin, Jean Porter, Helen Forrest, Donald Meek, Margaret Dumont, Ethel Smith, Janis Paige (in her film debut), and Xavier Cugat and Harry James and their orchestras. “Bathing Beauty” was the tenth highest grossing film of 1944 for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
