The Fighting Seabees (1944)

My Review

The drama surrounding the creation of the U. S. Navy’s Seabees in World War II is the subject of “The Fighting Seabees.” Though not completely factual, this Republic Pictures product if highly entertaining especially with the presence of stars John Wayne and Susan Hayward.

The rest of the cast includes Dennis O’Keefe, William Frawley, Paul Fix, Grant Withers, William Forrest, and Wally Wales. They have excellent dialogue to perform from the screenplay by Borden Chase and Aeneas MacKenzie. Director Edward Ludwig (“Swiss Family Robinson” 1940) and producer Albert J. Cohen have constructed a fun and watchable motion picture.
