My Review

Gene Tierney was at the height of her career in the suspenseful film noir “Laura.” Director Otto Preminger (“Fallen Angel” 1945) ensured good production values and wild atmospherics in this story of a police detective investigating the murder of a beautiful advertising executive.

Stars Dana Andrews and Tierney demonstrated exceptional chemistry in this picture. Preminger once again paired them in his 1950 movie “Where the Sidewalk Ends.” The supporting cast here includes Clifton Webb, Vincent Price, Judith Anderson, Dorothy Adams, Cara Williams, and James Flavin. “Laura” was a big success in theaters for producer Otto Preminger and 20th Century Fox. It was nominated for five Oscars, winning one for Best Cinematography/Black-and-White (Joseph LaShelle).
