My Review

Betty Grable and June Haver star as identical twins in the true story of “The Dolly Sisters.” The movie follows the lives of the two little girls when they immigrate from Hungary to the U. S. with their uncle. They start singing and dancing professionally, and the rest, they say, is history. The Dolly Sisters became famous entertainers in New York and Europe in the early twentieth century.

Director Irving Cummings (“The Impatient Years” 1944) and screenwriters John Francis Larkin and Marian Spitzer turned out quite an entertaining two hours on film. There is loads of song and dance, drama and comedy, to satisfy most of the movie audiences. The cast includes June Haver, Betty Grable, John Payne, S. Z Sakall, Reginald Gardner, Frank Latimore, Sig Ruman, Virginia Brissac, Mae Marsh, and Eddie Kane. “The Dolly Sisters” was a box office hit for producer George Jessel and 20th Century Fox.
