She-Wolf of London (1946)

My Review

“She-Wolf of London” is an old-fashioned horror movie about a young woman who believes she may be the werewolf that has been murdering people around her neighborhood in London. Director Jean Yarbrough (“The Over-the-Hill Gang” 1969) evenly directed this film from a good screenplay by George Bricker.

June Lockhart turned in an excellent performance as Phyliss Allenby, who thinks she could be a werewolf. This was June’s first film where she received top billing. Her co-stars include Don Porter, Sara Haden, Jan Wiley, Lloyd Corrigan, and Dennis Hoey as the police inspector. “She-Wolf of London” flopped at the box office for Universal Pictures. Lockhart would go on to bigger and better things in television series – “Lassie” (1958-1964), “Lost in Space” (1965-1968), and “Petticoat Junction” (1968-1970).
