Esther Williams is involved in a love triangle with Peter Lawford and Ricardo Montalban, along with performing her amazing water ballets, in “On an Island with You.” Director Richard Thorpe (“Two Girls and a Sailor” 1944) put together a typically winsome Esther Williams vehicle which is great 1940’s entertainment.
Co-stars include Jimmy Durante, Cyd Charisse, Leon Ames, Kathryn Beaumont, Dick Simmons, and Xavier Cugat and his orchestra providing musical relief. “On an Island with You” was a big success in theatrical release for producer Joe Pasternak and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
