My Review

Barbara Stanwyck stars as a bedridden woman who overhears a telephone conversation of two men plotting a murder and she discovers too late that she is the intended victim in the noir thriller “Sorry, Wrong Number.” Stanwyck delivers the goods in her usual professional manner with help from director Anatole Litvak.

The sterling screenplay was written by Lucille Fletcher, adapted from her own 1943 radio play of the same name. Other great production values are insured with costumes by Edith Head, musical score by Franz Waxman, and cinematography by Sol Polito.

The supporting cast includes Burt Lancaster, Ann Richards, Wendell Corey, Ed Begley, Leif Erickson, William Conrad, Dorothy Neumann, and Jimmy Hunt. “Sorry, Wrong Number” was a big hit at the box office for producer Hal B. Wallis and Paramount Pictures. This movie is 89 minutes of pure excitement and suspense.
