My Review

“Independence Day: Resurgence” is a flat, dull, and boring attempt at a science fiction action-adventure film. Director Roland Emmerich was at the helm of the original “Independence Day” twenty years ago, and made no improvements in this sequel. In fact, it is worse. Emmerich co-wrote the screenplay with several other people, proving true the old adage that too many cooks spoil the broth. The 120 minute movie was primarily filmed in New Mexico.

Cast returnees from the first movie include Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, and Vivica A. Fox, with Liam Hemsworth, Maika Monroe, Judd Hirsch, Brent Spiner, Robert Loggia, and Sela Ward as the President of the United States. “Independence Day: Resurgence” was a disappointment at the box office due to receipts not covering the large budget and even larger advertising expenses. Bad news for producer Roland Emmerich, Centropolis Entertainment, Electric Entertainment, and 20th Century Fox. Do not be dependent on “Independence Day: Resurgence” for good entertainment.
