The 5th Wave (2016)

My Review

“The 5th Wave” is a predictable science fiction film about an alien invasion of the earth. It seems to be aimed at the youth market, as Chloe Grace Moretz stars as a teenager out to save the world from the aliens. She does well in the lead role, along with co-stars Nick Robinson, Ron Livingston, Maria Bello, Maika Monroe, Liev Schreiber, Tony Revolori, and Maggie Siff, well-known as Dr. Tara Knowles on “Sons of Anarchy” (2008-2013) and Dr. Wendy Rhoades on “Billions” (2016-2023).

The cast is the only positive aspect of the movie, as the staff did a lousy job of putting this project together including director J Blakeson and screenwriters Susannah Grant, Jeff Pinkner, and Akiva Goldsman. It has terrible special effects and amateurish dialogue and uneven pacing throughout the 112 minute running time. “The 5th Wave” made a small profit in theatrical release for producer Tobey Maguire, Columbia Pictures, Material Pictures, and Sony Pictures Releasing. It was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia.
